Our group of 20 sailed on a Hawaii to Vancouver cruise. We ranged in age from mid-forties
to seventies, couples and single women. We are all
experienced cruisers. This ship is beautiful, the staff is excellent, the food was above
our previous RCI experiences, and the dining staff outstanding. The
entertainment included Frankie Avalon and Joanne Worley, and both presented outstanding
shows. The weather left a lot to be desired, but we were
never at a loss for activities, even during the 5 days at sea. The ship staff worked very
hard to keep everyone entertained and happy, even when they
had to close the indoor pool because the water was sloshing over the tile floors in the
Solarium.
We all had Verandah cabins, and they are worth the extra cost. It is just spectacular
seeing a port from your own verandah, and watching the tenders
come an go was quite an experience. The tender service was excellent.
The embarkation procedure was disorderly, which is unusual for RCI. We attributed this to
the fact that RCI only does a few cruises a year from Honolulu,
and does not have a trained staff in place. The used Roberts Tours to embark passengers,
and they did a decent job, but there was still confusion and
crowds. RCI does a great job with this in Miami.
I would recommend this ship to anyone, first time cruisers, couples, singles, and
families. I would not recommend this cruise (Hawaii) to anyone looking
for a lot of nice beaches. El Nino has done a job on the beaches of Hawaii.
We spent a post cruise 3 days in Vancouver and can't wait to go back. This is a beautiful
city, and anyone planning on cruising to Alaska from Vancouver
should definitely spend a few days pre or post.
Happy Cruising!
