This had been my forth cruise with Royal Caribbean and second with the Song of America. I find the Song of America to be
one of the best overall of the Royal Caribbean ships I have been on (Majesty of the Seas, Song of America, and Monarch of
the Seas) regardless of it's size and age compared with those of the Vision-class ships. Bermuda is probably one of the
nicest and most welcoming places I've been to in the Caribbean. It's feel is an atmostphere somewhat between my
hometown of Doylestown, PA, England, and Caribbean islands such as Barbados or Grand Caymen. I had gone on the
Song of America with a friend of mine and her mother who were first-time cruisers, so we naturally went for the cheaper
rooms (the N category on the second floor). The cabin size was more than adequate for the three of us and with the
superb quietness and room without a window, sleeping was a pleasure after dancing the night away until 3 or 4 in the
morning at the discos in Hamilton. As I've said, I've cruised a few times before and as in past experience, have found one
of the only drawbacks of the food to be the open-seating buffets. I tend to be a fussy eater since I don't like meats, and
found it hard to find something I liked in vegatable dishes that wasn't fattening or fried. So, when asked one night at
dinner by the head waiter as to the quality of the food, I told him of my feelings for the buffet food. He replied by telling
me of the little-known fact that you can order from the menu as well at the buffets. Too bad I had missed out on all that
good food! Of course, Royal Caribbean, being as pleasing as it is, made it up to me with some chocolate covered
strawberries delivered to my room that night compliments of the ship's chef! Overall, besides Bermuda being slighty
pricey, and the cruise from New York and back to be a bit rocky (many people on board wwere getting a little woosey)
the wonderfull Song of America, it's courtrous staff, wonderful performers, and excellant service make up for any other
barely-noticable flaws.
