My wife and I and another couple cruised to Bermuda aboard the Song of America the week of August 17-23,
1997. We had a fantastic time. The ship was immaculate, the food was great and there was plenty to do. The
cabins were on the small side (the bathrooms are a joke -- if you are chubby, look for another ship), but
totally adequate, and the stewards keep them fresh. The wait staff was so attentive it was almost
embarrassing. The food was abundant, the menus varied each day (each dinner had a theme), and the food
was cooks perfectly (if you order prime rib medium rare, that is how it arrives -- this is amazing when you
consider that they are feeding 700 people at once). We booked that later seating (dinner was at 8:30), which
gave us time to linger. While the ship was fully booked it never felt crowded -- at times we had the pool deck
and upper decks almost to ourselves. The entertainment was good, and Bermuda is a great place to go by
ship. The ship docks right on Front Street, the main street in Hamilton, so it is very convenient to go back on
board for meals (economical, too -- Bermuda is expensive). All in all, I heartily recommend this ship and its
Bermuda cruise.
