We really enjoyed our trip, very relaxing. We slept thru dinner the first night, after
travelling all day, we were exhausted.
Our luggage did not show up until after 6 pm. We showered at 9:30 PM and then went
exploring, all refreshed. Our room
steward was very patient, kept checking on us to see if he could turn down our beds for
the night! We finally left the room
so he could. Make sure you lay your nightgown on the bed ladies, so the steward can make
frog, or anchor shapes or
something out of it, and look for the chocolate on your pillow! We went to the midnight
buffet since we missed dinner,
and that was all my husband wanted to do the rest of the week. IT was great! I ordered
room service every morning so I
could have my coffee while showering and dressing. I usually asked for a sweet roll too!
Why not!! We went on the yellow
bird party boat in Nassau, great value for the $, had a ton of fun. Most excursions were
cancelled that day because it was
sooo windy, but ours, surprisingly wasn't, and they took us to a great little place, that
was calm and warm! You can
dance on the boat, live band, drinks included, just remember to bring your own towel from
the ship. They didn't tell us
that (that I ever heard), so we ended up sitting on our tee-shirts. A guy comes around
with real coconuts, cracks them in
half and makes Pina-Coladas on the beach! Pretty cool. I had a wonderful massage before
dinner, only down side to the
trip, really though, was that I had been quoted a price of $43.00 on the phone and our
final bill showed I had been billed
$63.00. Also, these lower prices are not on their 'menu' for the salon, but I had asked
based on RCCI's website and what
IT said. Formal dinner night I did not see more than 1 or 2 tuxedo's. But, it was very
nice. I wore a long dress and felt
great! Our waiter peeled my shrimp for me! The food was very good, I would only stay away
from steak, it just isn't
broiled like on a grill, and was a little dry and blah. Try all the unusual things that
you normally wouldn't order or see in
a restaurant. Conch fritters, tempura, stuffed grape leaves, choc. souffle, baked
alaska, shall I go on? CocoCay was
fabulous, had coco loco's, the local drink that was very good. You get to keep the
souvenir 'water bottle'. Don't miss the
BBQ for lunch, it was very, very good. It was a little hard to find a place to sit and eat
(at a picnic table) they could use a
few more. And if you want to lay in a hammock, check the map you receive and head straight
for one, I could never find
one that was empty. We rented two floating mats and really one would have been enough,
taking turns. But, it was very
hot and we got very lazy there, it was great. We were planning to snorkel, but just layed
on a chaise lounge (provided).
This ship actually rocked a bit, and I did feel queazy a few nights, which was a bummer.
Had to leave dinner one night
before dessert. We had a table with only one couple (newlyweds) and that was really great.
I prefer a table for 4 over a
big round table of 8. We always had a great time at meals. Definitely try breakfast in the
dining room, it was fabulous,
much better than the Windjammer, although that was very respectable. Even lunch was really
great in the dining room.
Only did that once, should have done more, but you were usually on shore excursions then.
In Key west we just went to
Sloppy Joe's bar, had such a GOOD time there, live band and all, that's all we did. RCCL
said we'd all be off the ship by
10:30 AM for disembarking. Actually, that went so smoothly that we were already at the Ft.
Lauderdale airport by 10:30
AM. They had plenty of staff to answer questions about where to go, which bus to get on,
whatever. I was very impressed
with all the airport, dock, transfer stuff. No problems there whatsoever. Just pack cruise
clothes in your carryon, my
husband had on a long-sleeved shirt and jeans till after 6Pm the first day, and we had
boarded the ship about 1pm. He
really wanted to be able to shower and change after travelling. The ship was spotless and
very large. There were actually
some lounges that we never saw! We had a great time!!
