This was mine and my husband's first cruise and a test cruise to see if we would enjoy a
longer one in the near future. We
were certainly not disappointed. Embarkation/Debarkation: Embarkation went extremely fast.
This may have been because
we arrived so early. But we were on the ship in no time at all. The debarkation wasn't
quite so easy. Everyone was told to
wait in a public lounge until their tag color was called. That wouldn't have been such a
big deal if it hadn't been for a few
people, actually one person, who hadn't settled their bill which required everyone to wait
for more than an hour after we
should have been off. Otherwise, debarkation went quickly after that. Cabin: We had an
inside cabin on deck 8 or the Club
deck. It was a very small room with a very small bathroom. But we both have a good
attitude about these things and we
decided it was actually quite cute. Everything was an arms reach away. The room was very
quiet. I didn't even hear any
noise from the rooms next door. There may have been some slight creaking during one
evening when the seas were rough,
but it wasn't disturbing. We did take a walk down to the lower levels of the ship, though,
and on decks 4 and below, the
engine noise was very loud. We decided if we go on another cruise we would stay on the
upper decks. Overall, I was very
pleased with how clean the room was kept. (The cabin steward even hung up our jackets when
we so carelessly threw them
around the room during the day.) Food/Dining Room: The food was very good, but I am an
easy one to please. I even
complained to the waiter one evening that he was feeding me too much. I will say that I
prefer home cooking (not my own
though) but I enjoyed trying things I had never tried before. The service was usually
good, but sometimes became a little
slow at dinner. Our waitor almost seemed reluctant to serve us certain items on the menu.
When one couple at our table
asked for baked Alaska, I almost thought I saw a grimmace on his face. But for the most
part, the service and food was
good. Casino: Don't do it. I come from Las Vegas and the odds in slots are much better
there than in the ship's casino. If
you have some money you don't want, though, it can be fun. My husband especially liked the
tables and actually won some
money in craps. The Shows: Again, I have to compare it to Las Vegas, which they try so
hard to imitate. It isn't Sigfried and
Roy, but who cares anyway. I thought they were rather amateurish but fun to watch. A
couple of the singers had good
voices, but none compared to that deep, baritone voice of Captain Ringborn's. He sang at
one of the shows and we thought
it was wonderful. Overall, the entertainment was good. Shore Excursions: We went on the
Domecq Winery tour. Neither of us
had every been to a vineyard or tried wine tasting and we found it a lot of fun. Although
we had been to Ensenada many
times before by car, we had only seen the town area. We hadn't realized what a beautiful
countryside existed beyond the
main road, with green, rolling hills and little farms and orchards here and there. The
tour went very smoothly but we were a
little put off by the guide who may as well have held out his hand for tips as each person
got off the bus at the end of the
trip. It was a little too obvious. To sum it all up, this was a great trip except for it
being so short. We now know we will enjoy
the longer cruise later this year. Royal Caribbean's service was excellent and the
attitude of the employees is very friendly
which I thought was quite a feat considering they do constant back to back 3 and 4 day
cruises. We will definitely sail with
them again.
