OK, you said that no cruise really rates 100%, but have you ever sailed with Seabourne? This was a magical
experience. From the beautiful dock in Singapore to the excellent champagne that greets you as you embark and sail
away, everything that you could want from a cruise is merely a whisper away.

Yes, the ship is expensive, but as they say in the movies, 'every penny is on the screen'. The food (every bit of it
except for the ice cream imported from Austria) is prepared fresh daily. The menus are extensive and if you wish for
something not on the menu, it would be produced immediately. Dining in your cabin is elegant and delicious as in
such a small ship, the service areas are only a step away. There is plenty of room in your cabin for an elegant meal.

The staff is remarkable! From the cruise director and the hotel manager to the cabin stewards, everyone is very
professional, yet friendly and personable. Most of them have worked for Seabourne since the beginning of the cruise
line and those who have joined recently said it was worth waiting years for the chance to join the crew.

I can't think of any better way to see the Far East. From the gorgeous morning sail up the Chao Praya river to
Bangkok to the amazing brass band that met us in Saigon to the police escort from Haiphong harbor to Hanoi, every
detail was anticipated and arranged. Some of these tours are not available in any other way. I would take the cruise
again merely to visit the awesome private museum in Bangkok or to travel to Hue, a incredibly beautiful bus trip.

So are there any caveats? Yes. This is a small ship that caters to an older, affluent crowd. There wouldn't be much
for a child to do and the entertainment is more educational and personal than lavish and varied. But have you ever
heard Richard Sherman, winner of two Oscars for music, sing and talk about his career? There was also several
other experts on local history, gourmet cooking and even Bridge.

Also, being a small ship sailing in the winter storms of the south China Sea, there were several days that only a
handful braved the tossing and turning of the ship. I never had any problem, but my husband spent two nights in bed
rather than at dinner. And the most disappointment was missing a historical tour in Hong Kong because the ship
docked several hours later than planned.

Still, we can not wait to have the time to return to another Seabourne cruise. We thought we would never sail again
after our only other cruise on Carnival many years ago, but Seabourne is even better than staying at the best hotel in
New York or Paris. We loved every minute.
