Celebrity?
Celebrity is certainly one of our favorite
cruise lines. They are our absolute favorite in one respect - the food! Celebrity
really provides a spectacular dining experience at amazingly mid-level prices. If
you enjoy great meals, this is your line. Some of the many other reasons we enjoy
Celebrity are:
- Food - not just quality, but selection,
variety offered, and presentation
- Midnight buffet food quality is better than
some line's main entrees
- Elegant, soft contemporary styling of
interior areas
- Beautiful dining rooms - an environment fit
for the food quality
- Very good service from wait staff and cabin
stewards/stewardesses
- Entertainment is usually very good
- Cabins are elegant, spacious, and well
appointed
- Category 2 outside staterooms with verandah
(Mercury, Galaxy only) are an excellent value for a balcony cabin
- Ship staff (purser, desk staff, management)
very friendly and helpful
We have found very few negatives with
Celebrity:
- Squeaky cabin ceilings when in motion - not
the case in every cabin, but this may keep you awake if you are a light sleeper
- Not as easy to find your way around on the
ships
Celebrity is great for singles, couples age
25-64, and families. Any Caribbean sailing would be an excellent first time cruise
for those that appreciate fine food quality and a "casually elegant"
atmosphere. Be forewarned, though - if this line is your first experience, it will
be hard to "top it" in many ways, especially food quality. You'd have to
spend a lot more money to get an incremental improvement in the dining experience.
We have enjoyed three sailings aboard
Celebrity ships and plan to take many more. This site receives many reviews on the
line's ships, and the overwhelming majority are very positive. And the value they
provide, at a relatively small premium over many "mass market" lines, is
excellent.
