My husband and I were fortunate enough to book 3 weeks prior to departure to celebrate our 25th wedding
anniversary. We have cruised before but primarily on larger ships, including Princess, Premier and Carnival
lines. We had wanted to try a smaller ship particularly one with sails! This will undoubtedly come across to you
the reader as a glowing review because it is!

Everything was handled through a cruise discounter that I picked up on line. Windstar arranged the air/sea
program for us from our gateway city of Atlanta, GA. Everything both departing and returning was very
smooth. Adequate time was allowed and obviously planned for on the part of the cruise company. Upon our
arrival in Barbados, our point of embarkation we had a nice transfer from the airport to the ship. We boarded
immediately and graciously! The staff met us with a rum punch as we were guided into the lounge to relax,
complete minimal paper work and move on to our cabin. Our bags were already in our cabin when we arrived.
As it was dinner time we were told to proceed to the dining room whenever we were ready! We were seated at
a table for two and enjoyed the first of many, many fine meals for the week. Service was quietly attentive.
Smiles and friendly service were the norm at all meals whether they were taken in the main restaurant, the
Bistro or in the Veranda (deck service). The dining room manager, Geert was always around, supervising,
serving when needed and making certain that all guests were always happy. The waiters were very attentive,
making sure that glasses were refilled as needed and that each and every guest enjoyed their meal. The
open bridge policy was one that was thoroughly appreciated. The captain, Richard Bridge and his staff were
friendly and informative. We enjoyed visiting the bridge, watching the crew guide us into the small ports and
checking out the charts with the crew. We had questions and the crew was always happy to oblige us with
answers. We never felt like we were not welcome on the bridge. The crew was just great. Our cabin steward
was excellent.

The room was always immaculate. I know he must have been very clever to figure out just when
he could get in the cabin and never, ever be in our way. The stewards left a piece of chocolate each evening
on the pillow. Speaking of pillows, you have a choice of feather or hypo-allergenic pillows. Amazing. The cabin
had a small refrigerator, TV, CD player with plenty of CD's and videos available for borrowing. Terry robes
were provided. Hair blower in the bath and plenty of complimentary tolietries (shampoo, lotion, etc.) A basket
of fresh fruit was kept in the rooms at all times. We didn't use room service very much, but thoroughly enjoyed
the nacho makings and freshly popped, lightly buttered popcorn that was delivered within minutes of ordering!
Water sports off the back of the boat were really fun and fairly well organized. Snorkel equipment was
available at no charge for the week. Water skiing, banana boat rides, sail boats and kayaks were all available
every afternoon at no additional charge.

The ports were nice. We visited Nevis, Saint Maartens, St. Lucia, St.
Barths and Isles de Saints. My favorite was St. Barths but each one had it's own flavor. We selected two
on-shore excursions. Both were excellent. We did the America's Cup sail boat racing in St. Maarten. It was a
lot of fun participating in the actual racing of million dollar sailboats. Pricey but not outrageous. Our other
choice was a 7.5 hour trip on a catamaran along the coast of St. Lucia. On shore we visited a really nice
botanical garden and volcano. A wonderful authentic Carribean lunch was served on board the cat followed
by an hour of swimming and snorkeling off shore. There was an open bar that served soft drinks and rum
drinks alike. It was fun and relaxing. What more can I say? Well actually plenty. But I am only writing a review
not a book. Final comments are we just loved celebrating our anniversary on the Wind Surf. We felt pampered
and refreshed. The crew were especially nice to the somewhat older passengers that needed extra attention
and assistance getting on and off tenders and just moving around the ship. The attention seemed genuine,
kind and sincere. We are looking forward to booking as soon as possible again with the Windstar cruise line.
Perhaps the Greek Islands or a trip to the Orient!
